Why is my screen black?

A loose connection, signal problems, poor ventilation and even broadcasting blackouts may be why your screen goes black on some or all channels.

  1. Is all your equipment turned on? If yes, check your input setting by tuning to channel 200 on your Digital Box. Still nothing? Use your TV remote to change the input setting (you have multiple choices here depending on your setup, such as channel 03 or 04, Line 1 or 2, Aux 1 or 2, and/or HDMI 1 or 2).
    • Note: If you are using the standard coaxial cable to connect your Digital Box to your TV, your TV needs to be tuned to the correct output channel (usually channel 03 or 04).
  2. Check that all cable connections are connected correctly to all devices included in your home entertainment centre (such as a VCR, Stereo Receiver, DVD, Blu-Ray player or another device).
  3. Try rebooting your Receiver
    -Unplug your Receiver.
    -Wait 30 seconds
-Plug it back in, power it back on and check if you now have a picture.
  4. Does your Digital Box have enough ventilation? Remove anything stacked on top of your equipment.

Please Note: Black Screen on select channels

Are you seeing a Black Screen while trying to watch NHL hockey, but you can still see other channels? A broadcasting restriction is likely why. Blackouts are the result of broadcasting restrictions imposed by broadcasters, professional sports teams, and their leagues. Blackouts are set for city centers, typically within 50 km, or for regions, which can include provinces and territories.
