What is the Pulse TV Media Streamer?

The Pulse TV Media Streamer is a plug and play device that connects to your Pulse TV Media Gateway allowing up to 4 concurrent streams of live and recorded content from a mobile device such as a tablet or smartphone within your home.

How do I install the Pulse TV Media Streamer?

The Pulse TV Media Streamer is a plug and play device. All you need to do is:

  1. Connect the device to the Media Gateway using the Ethernet cable provided,
  2. Connect the power adapter,
  3. Ensure you have downloaded the latest version of the Pulse TV Mobile App from the Google Play or Apple store (search “Whole Home Solution”),
  4. Connect your device to the Media Gateway’s WiFi connection.

The app will automatically recognize the device for media streaming. Please refer to the self install guide provided with your streamer for step by step installation instructions.

How does the Pulse TV Media Streamer stream content?

The Pulse TV Media Streamer enables a function within the Pulse TV Mobile App allowing users to stream live or recorded content from the Media Gateway on a smart phone of tablet. The button which previously appeared as “Watch on TV” will change to “Watch” when any live or recorded program is selected within the app provided the mobile device is connected to the Media Gateway’s WiFi. The latest version of the Pulse TV Mobile App is required to access and stream content.

Can my mobile device stream content?

All iOS 7.0+, Android 4.0+ devices with the latest versions of the Pulse TV Mobile App installed are capable of streaming content. A list of compatible iOS & Android devices is available on the Northwestel website www.nwtel.ca/PulseTVFAQ

What content will I be able to stream to my mobile device?

Any content – live or recorded – currently available through your Pulse TV subscription will be available for streaming within your home.

How many devices can I use to stream content from Pulse TV Media Streamer?

The Pulse TV Media Streamer can stream live and recorded content to a maximum of 4 mobile devices at the same time. The content is distributed through the Media Gateway's WiFi connection (no impact to internet usage) and received by the Pulse TV Mobile App. However, the Pulse TV Media Gateway has a max capacity of 6 live channels (being watched or recorded) at one time. Content streamed to a single mobile device will consume one of the 6 channels available from the Media Gateway. There is no limitation on recorded content.

Can I stream content out of the home?

Unfortunately, out of the home streaming is not available with the Pulse TV Media Streamer.

Is my Internet bandwidth used by the Pulse TV Media Streamer?

Your mobile device must connect directly to the Pulse TV Media Gateway in order for the app and streamer to work. Therefore streaming is only available within the WiFi range of the Media Gateway. As a result, Internet bandwidth will not be impacted by the use of this product.

What is the quality of the streaming video?

The Pulse TV Media Streamer is capable of a maximum output resolution of full HD 1080p. It is built on adaptive bit rate technology meaning that the Pulse TV Media Streamer adjusts video quality based on your connectivity within the home network (based on factors such as signal strength, number of devices connected to the media gateway, etc).

What is the warranty period for the Pulse TV Media Streamer?

The Pulse TV Media streamer is guaranteed for manufacturer defect for a period of 12 months from date of purchase; please keep your sales receipt for the duration of the warranty period.
