How do I submit a request to get a payphone installed at my business?

In order to assess your request for payphone service, please fill out our payphone request form and fax it to 1 867 873-9773 (toll-free in Northwestel's operating area).

What do I need to do or consider in order to get a payphone at my business location?

New Payphone placements will be installed under Public Payphone Agreements.  Please keep in mind that under a Public Agreement the business pays $85.00 per month, and that preference is given to applications where the payphones are accessible to the public and not prone to vandalism.

How will I know if I have received approval on my payphone request?

A Northwestel representative will contact you and will make arrangements to sign a Payphone Agreement.

I have been approved for a payphone installation. What do I need to do next?

You will need to install a 3/4" conduit from the terminal or phone room to the approved location of the payphone. This will require that a certified electrician install the required conduit and electrical outlet box. Ensure you have arranged for a 24-Volt power requirement. Below is our backboard specifications diagram, which specifies the required measurements. Following the installation of the conduit, you will need to complete the preparation of the area by installing a fire retardant backboard.

Will I be required to pay for anything besides the conduit and backboard?

Yes, there is an additional fee for the payphone installation. During regular hours, the charge is $95.00 for the first half hour or fraction thereof, and $23.75 for each additional 15 minutes or fraction thereof.
